Department of mechanical design engineering
As one of the earliest discipline in Henan Polytechnic University, the department of mechanical engineering in was founded in 1946. In 1981, this department was awarded the first national master’s authorization, and in 2005, awarded doctorate degree authorization. At the present, there are mechanical engineering first level master's authority, the doctorate degree authorization center of Mechanical manufacturing and automation, the engineering master's authorization center of mechanical engineering and the first-class key discipline of Henan province in mechanical engineering. In 2007 the undergraduate specialty was approved as national famous brand, and then in October 2007, the department of mechanical engineering was divided into mechanical design engineering department and machinery manufacturing and automation department. At present, two national natural funds, more than 20 provincial and school scientific research projects, more than 40 cooperative research projects and more than 2000, 000yuan research funding were undertaken and operated by the department. Mechanical design engineering department has always attached great importance to undergraduate and graduate students in teaching and training. In recent years, the postgraduate entrance examination rate reached 35%, the doctor entrance examination rate was more than 65% and employment contract rate of undergraduate is close to 100%.
 
Research direction:
(1) Intelligent detection and fault diagnosis technology
Main research is the intelligent monitoring mining of machinery running state and the theory and method of fault diagnosis technology. Preventing sudden accidents of mining machinery equipment and ensuring safe and reliable work of the equipment is of great significance.
(2) Mechanical design theory and key technology of coal mine
The research direction is the special environment of coal mine industry and production conditions combined with modern technology, and by using intelligent control theory, modern robotics, ergonomics theory, electromechanical integration and sensing technology and etc., study safe and reliable theory and method of mine mechanical design and dynamic simulation design technology of mine large equipment.
